When my eldest son was diagnosed with an anxiety disorder at just 5yrs of age, it became largely apparent to me that there were very few children’s books about anxiety in children – so, I wrote, illustrated and published my own.
“Go Away, Mr Worrythoughts!” and “Happythoughts are Everywhere…” are two bestselling children’s books written for 4-10yrs+ inspired by on my own son’s journey of learning to deal with his ‘worry thoughts’. In addition to the books, I have also developed a ‘Parent/Teacher Resource Kit’ which has a range of practical, hands on activities – very popular in schools, at home and with mental health professionals.
Through my business “Happy Hero” I also offer my services raising awareness of mental health issues in children through public speaking engagements at primary, secondary schools, parent/teacher development sessions, kindergartens, community workshops and corporate conferences.
I am a mum to four boys, so, being able to juggle time schedules, my business focus and family values has been vital for success in both areas of my life. This is helped by support from everyone around me, including the virtual world of other mumprenuers.
Self-confidence and self-worth not only affect us as individuals, but also influence our ability to be the best mothers and business owners, so I never knock back an opportunity to take the chance and grow further.
